How to style white shoes
For years I have been guilty of wearing cognac, brown, brown, and black shoes. Never really branch out from this color palette. But this is the year to step out of your comfort zone and try the hot trend of white boots. Whether it’s white combat boots, Chelsea boots, or even fun white cowboy boots, this trend is everywhere. It’s slowly creeping onto the fashion scene and I have a feeling they’ll make their formal arrival in Fall 2021. Now is the time for white boots. And for good reason.
They’re a nice upgrade to your boring tan shoes and classic black picks. But this year, they seem to be coming up with so many options that there’s something for everyone’s personal style. Therefore, I am convinced that they are here to stay for a while. I find that these boots add an edgier look to any outfit, especially when you go for a combat-inspired look. I personally own the Marc Fisher Padmia boots which are Chelsea-style combat boots. If you want something more polished to dress up, I also have a few options below from a chic pointy ankle boots to fun cowboy boots. Shop each look below, as well as all my favorite white shoes.
How to style white shoes
A few of my favorite outfits feature this hot shoe trend. From everyday casual outfits to dinner with friends, to NYFW street style inspired ensembles that you can easily create at home. I’ve got tons of great ideas on how to wear these white shoes for a walk with confidence! Choose which type of white shoes match your personal style and build your outfit accordingly! Here are some of my favorite outfit ideas and how to style white shoes.
Style S slipdress and jacket
I submit my favorite outfit in white shoes. This will be an outfit I wear all fall and maybe even early spring. Slip-dress and blazer combinations are already my favorites. They are a wardrobe staple for me. The combination is sexy, chic, and pulled together, but also edgy. It’s so many things and flattering too. Adding a white Chelsea boot just takes it to another level. This is the perfect outfit for going out with friends. I love that heels are no longer mandatory and we can rock great chunky shoes instead.
Stylish elegant white ankle boots
If combat boots aren’t your thing, maybe try a more polished white pointed-toe ankle boot. Fashionable Jackson perfectly underlines this look with clean lines and a neutral outfit. This is definitely a way to wear white shoes that looks more elegant and sophisticated. While still being trendy and fashion-forward. Which is the ultimate combination of street style.
Denim Skirt And Graphic T-Shirt
I am in love with this little casual white combat outfit. It’s easy, fun, exciting. It’s a great way to feel like fall, but not layer on all the heavy sweaters and knits. A small graphic tee and a denim skirt are always a good combination. And adding white combat chelsea boots just ups the cool-girl factor. With or without a jacket, it’s a good look if you ask me.
With straight jeans and a chunky knitted sweater
I love this combo from Emma Hill. He really can do no wrong. Straight leg jeans are having a big moment, so this is a great way to try it all. Add chic booties and a chunky knit to complete the look. I also really like this color palette. A great autumn shade in a sweater to match with white shoes.
White Midi Cowboy Boots
I’ll be honest, I’m not into the cowboy boot trend. But this year, the fashion gods are telling us something else. If you are into this trend, I will say that I am really into this outfit. Imani styled this pretty reformation midi dress with a men’s blazer and western cowboy boots. It’s a unique twist that just works. Cowboy boots for fall go well with a feminine dress or even a pretty midi skirt. And adding a more structured men’s blazer wraps it all up in many different fashion trends.
Casual With Mom Jeans
For a more casual look, just throw on your favorite mom jeans or skinny jeans and a t-shirt works too. In the fall, I like to layer a leather jacket. But a utility jacket or bomber also works great. Treat these white combat boots as you would the rest of your ankle boots. With their edgier vibe, I would avoid any feminine tops and stick to more basic or edgy pieces to match the vibe. And if you have jeans, I think it would also work perfectly with faux leather leggings or cropped leather pants.
Go Monochrome
Why not try an all-white outfit for winter? I’m a big fan of the monochromatic look and if you’re now (or about to be) the proud owner of a pair of white shoes, this is a fun way to wear them. A blazer with a belt, an asymmetric skirt, this is simply the perfection of street style. When wearing white in the fall and winter, just remember the fabrics. This look totally works when done in fall knits, silks and wools. Leave summer fabrics for summer!
